Vacation Fitness ~ Don’t Leave Your Workout Home!

vacationworkoutsIf you are going on vacation this summer, don’t think you have to leave your workout behind! The best way to lose the momentum of your routine is to take a vacation from it. Of course when you are “out” of your normal routine, it is hard to keep up with your daily workout. But you have to find the time. And fortunately hotels get that.  Most have a first class workout room or lap pool. But if you are going camping or to the beach, there are other ways you can keep up with a workout.

According to Natalie Gingerich Mackenzie from Walgreens, there are ways to keep your workout going even on vacation.

Plan ahead
Before you even confirm your hotel or rental, make sure you know if there is a workout room or a place to go for a run. Then if you do not have the comforts of home, you might be able to bring some weights or a jump rope with you.

Talk to the concierge
Enough said! Call the concierge to find out what types of workouts are available at the hotel or nearby.

Run with the locals
Some cities have running groups that you can pair up with. This is another question you can have for the concierge.

-Head to a bike shop
Resort destinations should always have bike shops and city tours to take advantage of. If you are going to the beach look for a bike shop or a place to rent roller blades.

-Find fitness in unexpected places
A workout doesn’t have to take place in a gym or a pool. Remember you can do your workout by walking everywhere you go. Or even take the stairs at the hotel or do a little yoga in your hotel room. Think outside the “workout box” and be creative when you decide to burn a few vacation calories.

What type of exercise do you like to do on the road? We would love to hear what you do. Please comment below and give us some ideas of getting in your workout even during a vacation.
