All I can say as a Sports Mom…STUPID STAINS! I can’t tell you the years of heartache I went through trying to keep my son’s baseball pants clay, dirt and grass stain free. And yes, for years, I failed MISERABLY! One time I even scrubbed my own fingers raw trying to get those stubborn stains out while we were away at a tournament!
If your child plays a summertime sport, it’s likely you’ll have to deal with grass and dirt stains on regular basis. And if your child is like mine, it is INEVITABLE that he will have a WHITE uniform every year! So as a baseball catcher’s mom I was on a mission to find the best way to get the stains out. I’ve tried bleach (yep, I used so much the pants turned yellow), baking soda, Shout and pretty much every other detergent and stain fighter out there. Some work OK… BUT, I have a secret to share with you!
BARBASOL! Shaving cream you mean? Yep, Barbasol Shaving Cream has become my savior! When my son comes home from a long weekend tournament I have two pairs of pants covered in dirt and grass stains. I simply spray Barbasol (the shaving cream in the RED and WHITE can works best) directly on the stains, fold up the pants and leave them overnight in the laundry room. The next morning I throw them in the wash with his other baseball gear and out they come sparkling clean, just like new!
I don’t know how or why it works… frankly I don’t really care :)! I just know it has saved me hours and heartache over my son’s appearance on the ball field! Give it a try and let me know how it works for you! P.S. Barbasol will often go on sale at Walgreens for $0.99 a bottle. That’s pretty cheap if you ask me for the best solution at getting out stains!
What works for you?
