Summer Vacation Workout!
Silhouette young woman, exercise on the beach at sunset.
When you go on your summer vacation this year, don’t forget to plan ahead for your vacation workout. Of course when you are “out” of your normal routine, it is hard to keep up with your daily workout. But use this time to find new adventures in your workout routine. The best thing is you will likely be spending time outdoors anyway, so just incorporate a few workouts to your vacation. And fortunately hotels and resorts will help you keep up. Most have a first class workout room or lap pool. But if you are going camping or to the beach, there are other ways you can keep up with a workout.
Before you even confirm your hotel or rental, make sure you know if there is a workout room or a place to go for a run. Then if you do not have the comforts of home, you might be able to bring some weights or a jump rope with you.
If you are looking for a place that may be “workout friendly” try www.walkscore.com/hotels.
–Talk to the concierge
Enough said! Call the concierge to find out what types of workouts are available at the hotel or nearby.
–Run with the locals
Some cities have running groups that you can pair up with. This is another question you can have for the concierge.
-Head to a bike shop
Resort destinations should always have bike shops and city tours to take advantage of. If you are going to the beach look for a bike shop or a place to rent roller blades.
-Find fitness in unexpected places
A workout doesn’t have to take place in a gym or a pool. Remember you can do your workout by walking everywhere you go. Or even take the stairs at the hotel or do a little yoga in your hotel room. Think outside the “workout box” and be creative when you decide to burn a few vacation calories.
