reusable-bagThe month of April is the month we officially celebrate the Earth and Earth Day. But there are ways you can celebrate the Earth and be more “green” all year round. And there are incentives to doing so.

Bring in your own mug to Starbucks and save $0.10 off your next cup of joe! This will help save the paper they use on their cups.

Recycle your old clothing at H&M and get a discount on your next purchase. Just bring in up to 2 bags of H&M clothing you don’t wear anymore and get 15% off your next purchased item.

Staples will buy back your used cartridges for $2 in Staples Rewards. There is a limit. You can only return up to 10 per month and you have to have purchased $30 worth of ink or toner from Staples in the last 180 days.

Origins wants you to bring in your empty cosmetic containers, regardless of the brand and they will give you a free sample of Origins products. All containers will be recycled. This is not just an Earth Day promotion, it’s going on all the time.

You can do the same at Kiehl’s. Bring in 10 empty, full-sized Keihl’s bottles and take home any travel collection product. The Recycle and Be Rewarded program is available all year round.

Other offers are related to turning in your plastic bags or using reusable totes.

CVS will give you Free $1 Extrabucks when you pick up a green bag tag. Have it scanned whenever you use a reusable bag and get $1 Extrabucks each 4th times it’s scanned.

Target offers a five-cent discount when you use your own bag.

Whole Foods has a rebate program that takes up to ten cents off each bill when you use your own bags.

Kroger will also give you five cents every time you use your own bag.

Wal-Mart will take your plastic bags and recycle them and sell you a reusable bag for only 50 cents.

Check your favorite stores and ask them for incentives to using reusable bags.
