Benefits to Teaching Golf at a Young Age!

Posted on: February 8th, 2013 by Chris No Comments

One of the first gifts I gave both my daughter and son was a set of kid golf clubs. Even before they were born I knew I wanted my kids to learn how to golf. Let me say, I’m not a good golfer, in face it terrifies me. But if I had learned at a young age, I know I would have been much more confident at it. I have always heard that kids have a natural swing when they golf. If you learn later in life, you have a pre-conceived idea of how a club should be swung. And then its intimidating and you give up! Golf is more than a sport. It’s filled with life’s lessons. And its never too early to teach that to your kids.

Whatever the truth is, golf has a lot of benefits for kids. According to E.A.G.L.E Junior Golf there are 5 reason’s your child should play golf.

1. The Teachings of the Game
As I mentioned, golf teaches kids life’s lessons. Golf has a core standard of behavior that everyone lives by. It teaches personal skills such as honesty, integrity, courtesy and respect. It also encourages the highest level of sportsmanship. Another important quality in life.

2. College Scholarships
One of the main reasons I wanted my kids to play golf was to get a golf scholarship. What could be better than traveling to some of the country’s most beautiful places. There is also an opportunity for students to receive money from equipment manufacturers, State golf associations and junior golf organizations.

3. Family time
Golf is a game you can play with anyone…including your family. It doesn’t matter how good you are, its a game shared by everyone of all ability and potential. And you can play it for life.

4. Business contacts
We all know that some of the biggest deals are made on the golf course. So don’t get left behind in whatever business venture you are about to close.

5. Exercise and Fitness
Lets not forget that walking 18 holes of golf can be really good exercise. Golf is also now a sport of strength, conditioning and nutrition. It encourages good physical fitness and eating right.

So if you get the chance, expose your kids to golf at an early age. At the best, they can become professional golfers. At the very worst, they will close a business deal on the course because they knew how to play.
